Long Island, Rangat, Middle Andaman
Long Island is an Island measuring 8.5 km x 2 km. The island is off the southeast coast of Middle Andaman. It has a small village and several sandy beaches perfect for camping. On Wednesday and Saturday, the ferry from Port Blair and Havelock calls at Long Island before reaching Rangat. This island has the famous Lalaji Bay beach, rated as genuinely world-class.
Once a busy Island due to Kitply Industries’s presence, this is now an idle Island as the industry is no longer operational.
HOW TO REACH LONG ISLAND
Sea: There are two daily ferry services from Long Island to Yeratta (near Rangat) at O700hrs and 1 400hrs. The ferry to Yeratta (the return ferry) is at O900hrs and 1 600hrs. The average time taken for the journey is 1 hour.
PLACES TO VISIT IN LONG ISLAND
The route from Long Island Bazaar to Lalaji Bay Beach passes through dense forest and provides an apt opportunity for trekking. It takes around 45 minutes through the jungle to reach Lalaji Bay Beach. There are plenty of beautiful scuba spots around Long Island. Nearby Guitar Island and Marc Bay beach at North Passage Island.

Govt. run Department of Forest Guest houses Vanashree, and Tapovan are available. They could be booked by sending requisition to the Divisional Forest 0fficer, Middle Andaman, Rangat (Phone: 03192-274210). Few private accommodations are also available. Visitors should book well in advance for a confirmed reservation.
