Cellular Jail:

The Cellular Jail Port is located in Blair, also known as Kalapani. It’s open for tourists except for official holidays. There is also a sound and light show in the evening in which the life story of a freedom fighter is narrated

Chatham Saw Mill:

Chatham Island houses one of the oldest and largest saw mills in Asia. The Island is connected to Haddo, Port Blair, by a bridge and has the second-largest wharf of the islands. The sawmill is a storehouse of a variety of wood species. The sawmill was established in 1883 by the British to meet all the local timber requirements. The museum in the mill compound showcases various models and forest department activities in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Various timber mementoes and decorative pieces made of famous Padauk wood, Gurjan, etc., are available for sale. The sawmill is open to tourists from 9. am to 2.00 pm on all weekdays.

Sippighat Farm:

Sippighat Farm is a research centre for cultivating spices (cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon, coconut and pepper). Situated about 14 km. Away from Port Blair, the Government Agricultural Farm is spread over an area of 80 acres. It is a research centre where experiments on different crops, including horticulture and spices like clove, nutmeg, dalchini and pepper, are undertaken for their extensive propagation in these Islands.

Viper Island:

Long before the iconic cellular Jail was constructed, Viper Island housed the notorious Jail “Viper Chain Gang Jail” constructed between 1864-67 (supervision of Col. Ford). The Jail was home to the convicts considered most dangerous. The convicts were kept in fetters and were forced to work within those constraints. The ruins of this two-storeyed building jail and gallows are still on Viper Island. The Island is within a 20-minute boat journey from Phoenix Bay or Junglighat Jetty at Port Blair. The Island derived its name from a cutter vessel Viper which met with an accident and sank near this Island.

Mount Harriet

Mount Harriet is the second-highest peak in South Andaman, offering a magnificent view. It is situated 55 km by road / 15 km by ferry. Trekking is available from Bambooflat to Mount Harriet. From Mount Harriet, a trail can be taken to reach Madhuban. Mount Harriet is a place for various rare endemic birds, animals, and butterflies. Mount Harriet was the summer headquarters of the Commissioner during British Era. The location is named after Harriet Tytler. It is an ideal place for trekking, picnicking, and bird-watching. A guest house maintained by the Forest Department is available for stay.

Lime Stone Cave, Baratang Island:

Approachable by Boat from Baratang Nilambur Jetty (20-25 minutes). The boat takes around 5 and 10 people and costs Rs 600. per head (both ways). The boat ride is through the thick mangrove forest. The cave is about a 1.5 km walk through a kaccha road but a comfortable journey. Different shapes have been formed in rocks over the years. The wooden walkway made over the mangrove forest is very lovely & charming.

Mud Volcano, Baratang Island:

Mud Volcano is approachable by road from Nilambur Jetty and is mainly called Baratang Jetty. One has to walkable early in the morning and get ready to go to Baratang Island via Jarawa Creek by vehicle. From Jarawa, Creek Mud volcano is at a walkable distance of about 300 meters. A mud volcano is created by underground natural gases emitted by decaying organic matter.

The gas pushes the mud upwards; it deposits and hardens above the ground. Mud Volcano is formed by mud oozes out and spills over the edge. It grows in size, gradually forming a miniature volcano with a rich, creamy mud crater at the top. Mud Volcano is currently in a few places worldwide, many of which exist in the Andaman Islands in India.

Lalaji Bay Beach at Long Island:

Lalaji Bay Beach is situated at Long Island in Middle Andaman. There are boats from Yerrata Jetty (near Rangat) to Long Island. The one-way ride takes about 1.5 hrs and goes through a beautiful creek, making it a memorable journey. Alternatively, boats also ply between Lon Island and Rangat Bay Jetty. Lalaji Bay Beach is a beautiful beach on the east coast of Long Island. From Long Island jetty, one has to take a fibre boat to get to the West coast and then walk a few kilometres to reach the beach. The island has a long, sprawling white sandy beach with clear water. One can easily bask in the sun or get immersed in clean water to give a treat to mind and body.

Amkunj Beach:

Amkunj Beach is a sandy beach near Rangat (in Middle Andaman). Amkunj Beach is about 8 kms from Rangat and is 1 km away. From the Nimbutala helipad, on the way towards Mayabunder. This beach is around 70 metres from the Andaman Trunk Road (ATR) and is ideal for swimming and sun basking. The Department of Forest has built eco-huts, groves and a Treehouse at the beach. During the low tides, the beach allows one to observe sea animals, fishes and shallow-water corals.

Moricedera Beach:

Moricedera is an ideal location for a picnic in a natural sea environment on one side and lush green forest on the other. It is located along the ATR at a distance of 12 kms from Rangat towards Mayabunder. Eco-friendly beach furniture, sea-facing sit-out areas, and their proximity to the sea make it an ideal relaxing location. A walkway between Twin Rocks (a unique rock formation) leads to a spectacular horizon viewpoint, motivating everyone to feel “sky is the limit”. A freshwater stream at this side is both perennial and scenic. It serves as a natural swimming pool for the visitors. Dhaninallah Mangrove Walkway & Beach:

DhaniNallah Mangrove WalkWay and Beach are located 18 Km from Rangat towards Mayabunder. The beautiful and unique wooden boardwalk is built on top of the Mangrove swamp/creek that leads to Dhaninallah Beach. With a length of 713 meters, it is the longest walkway in India. Dhaninallah is named after a mangrove that is locally called “Dhanipatti”. The Mangrove Nature Walkway was inaugurated in December 2012. The Dhaninallah beach is known for turtle nesting during the last and first quarter of every year.

Cutbert Bay:

Cutbert Bay Beach is located at a distance of 12 km. from Rangat. This lengthy beach with a tropical forest bordering it is famous for turtle nesting activity from November to February. It is visited by Olive Ridley and Green sea turtles primarily. Tourists can also visit the elephant training camps.

Parrot Island, Baratang:

The sight of hundreds of parrots returning home before every sunset is an experience that draws nature lovers to Parrot Island. Visiting this tiny Island is an exciting escapade combining bird watching, boat rides through mangrove fringed coastline, and marvelling at the enchanting sun setting behind the Island.

Parrot Island is best viewed during sunrise or sunset when parrots come to roam around this Island. The Sunset view is fantastic, and as soon as the sun sets, hundreds of parrots go to the Island. They keep flying around the Island for about 10 minutes in the evening. The boats for Parrot Island leave before 4 pm, and by that time, there are no buses for Port Blair, and you need to night’s stay at Baratang.

Yeretta Creek:

Yeretta Creek is a lush green mangrove creek that is on the way from Yeretta Jetty to Long Island. Yerrata is located at a distance of 8 km from Rangat, along with luxuriant mangrove creeks. Yerrata has a jetty from where the ferry is operated to Long Island. Yerrata, which is well connected by road, has breath-taking scenic beauty of various species of mangroves and is an ideal location to learn about various mangroves. To create awareness among the general public about mangroves, the Department of Environment and Forests has established a Mangrove Interpretation Center, which has attractive display panels depicting various species of mangroves found on these islands.

A mangrove view watch tower is a unique structure that provides an opportunity to have a panoramic view of mangroves and adjacent forests. This is the only such tower in the A & N Islands to view mangroves. The height of the watch tower is 13 meters. The Department of Environment and Forests has developed a Mangrove beach trail having 300 mtrs. The stretch of bench walk passes through the natural mangrove forest, an important tourist attraction. The bench walk gives the visitors a fantastic feel of mangroves.

Merkbay Beach at North Passage Island:

Merk Bay Beach in North Passage Island comes under the area of Middle Andaman. On the way to the island, one can see Strait Island on the right and Guitar Island on the left. Near the North Passage island, one can also see three small islands on the opposite side that are said to be the North, Middle and South islands. Merk Bay Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in Andamans. Fine, white sand, contrasting with the blue water, makes the perfect setting for a day out. The beach is safe for bathing and has good snorkeling options. It is also a good spot for bird watching. The sea around the island is famous for playful Dolphins.

Saddle Peak (Diglipur Island)

Saddle Peak is the highest point (732 metres) of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The trek to the Peak, which offers an aerial view of North Andaman, is about 8 km long from the park entrance at Lamiya Bay / Kalipur. The initial stretch of 3 km runs along the coastline. Saddle Peak National Park is a dense tropical forest housing a rich bank of exquisite trees (including sandal), rare flora and wild fruits and offering trekking opportunities, including climbing up natural steps formed by the roofs of old trees. Wandoor Beach:

There are 3 peaks in the park 1) Saddle Peak, 2) the second Peak named, Ice degree peak 3) Unnamed Point, which provides an aerial view of Diglipur to Mayabunder. The Peaks were notified as Saddle Peak National Park in 1979. The park is uninhabited and not frequented by trekkers. At Every 500 meters, the Forest department has built hutments with benches. Ross and Smith Island (Diglipur)

Ross and Smith Islands are sister islands separated by a bar of sand. The sandbar submerges under water during high tide, and the two islands appear separate. The beach at this location is rated number one among all the existing beaches of the Andaman Islands. The Ross Island of the Smith-Ross duo is often confused with the famous colonial colony at Ross Island near Port Blair. It is one of the best places to visit in Andaman Islands and must visit place in Diglipur.

Wandoor Beach:

Ross and Smith also known as Smith and Ross Island offer a virgin beach followed by a tropical forest. Ross and Smith Island is a 20-minute (distance 5 km) boat ride from Aerial Bay jetty is an ideal spot for Beach tourism, Adventure (trekking through tropical forest), Research / Education (like scuba diving, snorkelling, turtle nesting). The main attraction is the 450-metre-long sand bar joining Smith and adjoining Ross Island. Smith Island also houses a small village of about 60 families. Smith Island beach is notified for Turtle nesting during seasons.

Lamiya Bay Beach at Diglipur:

The beach lies 3 kilometres ahead of Kalipur Beach (and 25 Km from Diglipur Bazaar). It lies at the foothill of Saddle Peak, the highest peak of Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Lamiya Bay is also locally called “Lemiyar Bay”. This beautiful beach has a long stretch covered with shells and finely polished pebbles and is also a known turtle-nesting site. The Andaman administration has constructed eco-friendly huts and a Watch Tower for tourists. Multiple freshwater streams originate out of the Saddle peak hill end near the beach in the foothills of Saddle Peak National Park.

Hathi Level Mud Volcanoes of North Andaman

The mud volcanoes at North Andaman are described by locals as better than those in Baratang Islands. The mud volcanoes at North Andaman are located at Jal Tikry near Hathi level, around 20 kilometres from Diglipur Bazaar (towards Laxmipur). 20 km from Diglipur, a chain of Mud volcanoes can be witnessed in the green jungle. One has to trek for 15 minutes in the semi-evergreen forests to reach Mud Volcano. At the initial point, bigger and dormant mud volcanoes can be sighted. On proceeding further for a few minutes, fresh emerging mud volcanoes could be seen. Information boards are provided for visitors.

Kalipur Beach:

Kalipur Beach is also home to thousands of turtles during their nesting period. During the winter months of December and January, turtle nesting takes place in Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Ramnagar Beach – North Andaman

Ramnagar Beach, beyond Kalighat, is a popular beach destination. This beach is suitable for swimming and sun basking. A nature trail for trekkers is an added attraction. This beach is well known for turtle nesting. Eco-friendly beach facilities like eco-huts, benches and seating arrangements have been provided.

Guitar Island:

Guitar Island a lovely Island next to Long Island. Guitar Shaped, this island is one of the most beautiful islands. Guitar Island is an uninhabited Island, and no accommodation facility is available. The plantation is located at a distance of 11 km from Hutbay Harbour. The Red Oil Palm plantation was managed by Andaman and Nicobar Forest and Plantation Development Corporation ( ANIFPDCL ) till ANIFPDCL operations ceased. Since 1973 the plantation has spread over an area of 1593 hectares. A factory for the extraction of palm oil set up in 1984, also established by the ANIFPDCL, is currently non-operational. Tourists can no longer visit the Oil factory, but the Palm plantation can be visited.

Barren Island

Barren Island is the only active volcano in India. And it is now closed by Government but can see from a distance by hiring a private boat from Port Blair.

Great Nicobar:

Great Nicobar is in the Southern part of India. It comes in the Nicobar Group of Islands and is the only island you can visit from the group of Nicobar islands
